Oscar Borries defends his Ph.D.
On Friday 13. March, Oscar gave a public presentation “Algorithms for Electromagnetic Scattering Analysis of Electrically Large Structures” in partial fulfilment of the requirements for his Ph.D. degree. The talk was given at DTU with Professor Jin-Fa Lee, Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, Ohio State University, USA, Professor Mats Gustafsson, Department of Electrical and Information Technology, Lund University, Sweden and Associate Professor Allan Engsig-Karup, DTU Compute, as external examiners.
Oscar has made major progress in speed-up as well as memory saving by applying MLFMM to the full-wave solver that is the core of the Moment Method implementation in TICRA’s GRASP software. And by innovative lateral thinking, it has been possible to apply the techniques to the Physical Optics computations as well, resulting in significant CPU time savings. Both achievements will eventually benefit our customers since Oscar has decided to continue working with us at TICRA. We are most pleased, and congratulate Oscar on a job well done.
