The Method of Moments (MoM) GRASP add-on is a very accurate analysis tool that is used for general scattering problems, including problems where the prerequisites of the high-frequency methods used in GRASP (PO/GTD) are not fulfilled. The MoM add-on module for GRASP is ideal for antenna designers who require extremely accurate analyses of electrically small and moderately sized sub-reflectors, struts, plates, and general scattering objects that cannot be defined in the standard edition of GRASP.
The MoM solver has been specifically designed by TICRA to provide high accuracy for the curved surfaces encountered in reflector antenna problems. This implementation is very efficient and enables analysis of even quite large scatterers on a standard PC. The MoM implementation lists the following core features:
- Automatic meshing using curved patches given by 4, 8, 16, or 25 interpolation points
- Adaptive selection of current-expansion using near-orthogonal higher-order basis functions of up to 12th order
- Efficient multi-threaded matrix-fill routines and packed matrix storage for symmetric matrices
- Direct or iterative solver using efficient pre-conditioner tailored for higher-order basis functions

In addition to adding the MoM analysis method, the MoM add-on module gives you a range of new features that extend the applicability of GRASP:
- Arbitrary meshed geometries can be imported into GRASP and analyzed with MoM or PO/PTD
- Several individual scatterers can be placed together in a logical group, which simplifies the MoM or PO/PTD analysis of a complex system significantly
- The currents computed by GRASP can be visualized in a 3D colour plot directly in the GRASP pre-processor
- Dielectric stiffeners, which are often used in dual-grid reflector antenna systems can be easily defined and analyzed with MoM
- GRASP can be used as a high-accuracy meshing tool for other analysis codes. The built-in scatterer types in GRASP allow the user to define a relatively complex geometry in terms of a few parameters
